Instead, you place completed piles in those spots once they are completed in the tableau. Foundation piles: Leave spots at the top right for eight foundation piles, but you won’t use them to build your descending piles.if it does run out and you’re out of moves, you have lost the game. You can do this until the stockpile runs out. When you’re out of moves on the tableau, deal 1 card from the stockpile face-up onto the bottom of each column. The stockpile: Use the remaining 50 cards for the stockpile and place them face-down at the top left of your tableau.Use the tableau to build columns in descending order from King to Ace instead of building on active foundation piles. Keep all cards face-down except the last card of each column, which you turn face-up. Dealing from left to right, place 6 cards in the first 4 columns and 5 cards in the last 6 columns. The tableau: This is the main area for play, where 54 cards are placed into 10 columns. These sequences get transferred to the eight separate foundation piles once completed.Īrrange your game space into these three key parts: ObjectiveYour goal is to clear all the cards by building sequences within the tableau, organized by suit and arranged in descending order from King (high) to Ace (low). Typically thought of as a game for advanced to expert players, Spider Solitaire (4 Suits) uses two decks of cards (104 cards) made up of 2 sets of Hearts, 2 sets of Diamonds, 2 sets of Spades, and 2 sets of Clubs. If Spider Solitaire 1 Suit or 2 Suits has become a bit too easy, give Spider Solitaire 4 Suits a try. ®Aeroplan is a registered trademark of Aeroplan Inc., used under license. Offering almost Techno Base vibes (only a little less dramatic), this vibrant Zone has Sonic and pals run around a wireframe-decorated world with special areas that transforms the gang into strange voxel-based creatures and objects. It was certainly a lot of fun.Ĭyber Station was the more interesting stage though, allowing Sonic Team and Arzest to really get creative with the gameplay. It kind of reminded me of a cross between Carnival Night Zone from Sonic 3 and Sonic Advance's Casino Paradise. The former is your typical bouncing Sonic stage du jour, with bumpers, flippers and roulettes dotted throughout. She also has a Hammer Attack that works like Sonic's Drop Dash, but unlike Origins Plus Amy doesn't automatically rush forward when she lands, meaning you can choose to have her mash her hammer in a standing position or while running along, depending on how you're moving the character when you land.īehind closed doors, I was able to experience two new stages that haven't been played before Gamescom - Pinball Carnival and Cyber Station. Jumping will have Amy spin with her Piko Piko Hammer, and this can protect her from certain obstacles and destroy spiked enemies when in this state - but after the mid-point of her jump she will revert to a standard jump spin, making her vulnerable (but still able to bop regular enemies like Sonic and co). She has a similar moveset to her last appearance in Sonic Origins Plus, only there are some significant tweaks. Seeing Sonic go from open-mouthed confusion to determined frown as he starts running is exactly the kind of attention to detail I imagined for these characters when I was a kid playing the 16-bit prequels.Īmy Rose in particular is a great character to play, and would be a good choice for new players. The animations on these classic heroes are simply adorable, and really illustrate a level of love and care made to each model. I was able to find time to play as all four characters and each one was a treat to play - and watch. But there will be speed traps in the form of cleverly-designed Badniks - frogs that will stick you with their tongues, and rocket-powered enemies that chase you while dashing along the vines. These vines will curve up and down and you can choose to timely jump to switch lanes, just like the tubes at the start of Sonic 2's second level. Loads of opportunities to blast ahead at pace, with Sonic and pals automatically grinding on vines once they reach a certain running speed. Speed Jungle was much more of a hi-octane stage, with various elements feeling very reminiscent of Chemical Plant Zone. The only thing that dulled things to a degree were the floating dash loops that shot you automatically from place to place - a novel gimmick on first play, and forgivable as a first Zone object, but did have a slight twinge of the game wanting to play the stage for me at certain points. The game plays with depth quite a bit as well, with Sonic and friends spinning and dashing from foreground to background and back again. Given the Mania development team's involvement in the initial pitch phase of what would eventually become Superstars, it's nice that - even though Christian Whitehead and Evening Star are not actually involved - the game feels like Arzest has taken the gameplay template from Mania and ran with it.īridge Island Zone promises a great time as a new 'Green Hill' style opening level, and for the most part it pulls it off! Curves and loop-de-loops aplenty, easy introductions to new concepts such as the Water Chaos Emerald power up, and a few imaginative tributes to scenarios you might recall from Sonic Adventure and others. In general, the game really does offer the same kind of inertia and physics that we are accustomed to in the 16-bit Sonic games (and re-introduced to perfection with Sonic Mania). While we have already covered the public demo's contents from our platters back in June, I can add my own personal experience as to how it all plays and feels. Of course, the upcoming Sonic Superstars was also on show, both with a Summer Game Fest demo for the public and a special look at the game's multiplayer mode behind closed doors. From a restored 1990s UK statue to a massive LEGO Eggman Robot, there was a lot to get excited about. Sonic made a big splash at Gamescom 2023, with SEGA's consumer booth featuring a treasure trove of blue blur goodies. You can contact the author at or on Twitter. The Okta Authentication API provides operations to authenticate users, perform multifactor enrollment and verification, recover forgotten passwords, and unlock accounts. If anything else it adds another tool to the toolbox for those using all-gray inksets. This post wasn't intended to be a dig at QuadTone RIP but as a starting point for those who want to experiment with different printing methods. More experimentation/research needed here. Basically linearly adjusting the transition values for each lighter ink. I don't quite yet grasp the Hextone transition values but experimentation has led me to put a Hextone transition value going from 0.1 for Hextone 5 to 0.5 for Hextone 1 to work well. The test print should print reasonably well but will probably have transition problems. For each of the value's put in the relative density. 5 being the next darkest ink after black. There should be a section for each Hextone value from 5 to 1. * Output Controls Extra 5 -> Scroll down to the Hextone section. * Printer Features Common -> Change Inkset to MIS Six tone * Output Control Common -> Select Photograph for the media type * General -> Adjust resolution to 5760x2880 dpi unless you want faster printing times at the expense of quality * When printing go to "Printer Features" in the System print dialog. * Install GutenPrint, add a printer using the Mac Dialog box select the printer and "Select Software" to find your Gutenprint driver for your printer If your next darkest ink has a density of 1.6 then it's relative density is 1.6/2.0 = 0.8 Photo black should be 1.0 and has a density of say 2.0. * Use QTR to print off a calibration chart and then use a scanner or densitometer to get the relative densities of your inks. Since you only need 3 inks it's quite economical. I based mine off mixes of ConeColor Pro Photo black, Light black and Light light black ink available from Inkjet Mall. Sandy King's recently released manual of Carbon Printing has detailed instructions on designing and creating a custom B&W inkset. * Mix your ink as you would normally and fill up your refillable cartridges. Here's the basic procedure for using an Epson 1430 with a custom B&W inkset with GutenPrint on a Mac. GutenPrint has evolved since so you have more fine grained control with more algorithms available for things like Dither method etc QTR is based off an earlier version of GutenPrint (then known as GIMP Print). * Many many more options are customizable. Results are visibly sharper, with the disadvantage being very slow printing times (not a concern for me) * GutenPrint has a 5760x2880 DPI printing mode for Epson printers which QTR seems to lack. The caveat being I'm not sure how many non-Epson printers have a defined Quadtone inkset type yet available for customization. * Better printer support- this procedure could be used by printers other than Epson since GutenPrint supports many more printers than QTR. * Density is easily controlled using Print driver settings - if you want a digital negative with more ink blocking you can up the density at the time of printing by changing "Output Controls Extra 1 -> Density" when printing. I've managed to come to a working solution with GutenPrint after some experimentation. As far as I can tell no one has attempted this except possibly the GutenPrint developers. So recently I started looking at GutenPrint () as a custom RIP for a custom B&W inkset. unsharp results compared to the Epson driver, ink running off the paper when limits are too high etc. It's output for me has always been subpar and error prone. Maybe I'm not doing something right but I've never been a fan of QTR. If you have a spare hard drive, I would suggest re-installing a vanilla copy of Windows on it as a test and starting againĭo make sure you back up all settings before changing anything though. If the above changes don't fix it, I think your pc needs a health check, as that could be anything between a virus/ failing hard drive/ failing RAM / network failing and a million other things. Point is, considering you're using a legacy version, 30 bux buys you the right to email support to get an official answer, as well as a butt load of features and improvements - dual streaming, 'nuff said. The implementation of DeepStack (AI) was a game changer for me, and I bought the extended service package for 30 bux and never looked back. As you likely know, the game used to be fine tuning your detectors to find the sweet spot between legitimate events of interest and false alerts. However, BI completely redesigned the console interface, updated UI3, and added Artificial Intelligence to reduce false alerts. I resisted the upgrade from 4->5 until July of last year. Can't find a copy of the file anywhere on the Internet. Getting and running the BlueIrisService.exe (64 bit) file is the only thing I haven't been able to try. The copy I have though was last backed up about 2 hours after the update was installed, so it's useless. I do use Macrium Reflect daily (except it's turned off right now). I haven't purchased a V5 license because it says on the Blue Iris v4 Options page that my version is "Not version 5 eligible". That didn't happen, so I've uninstalled version 5. I did install version 5 hoping to get the BlueIrisService.exe (64 bit) file. The recordings that I do get just aren't as good as they used to be, there's a lot of jerky motion and missing frames in the videos. If I trigger the cameras, they start recording but then quit for the rest of the day. On my system, Blue Iris 4 is running as a service so it starts automatically every time my system is rebooted.īy quit working properly, the biggest problem is many of the cameras just aren't continuing to record. Once you get things sorted, your old settings can be imported. Also, BI makes 3 backups of your configuration - reg files in the program folder. You shouldn't rely on Restore points - for me, anything mission critical gets imaged daily with backup software ( Macrium Reflect Free). Walk us through and post screenshots if necessary. You've installed version 5 - What's the problem? What's it not doing that you expect? Did you purchase a v5 license yet or trial? Folks here are pretty helpful - but since you've got a lot of moving parts there to dissect, I would advise a cautious approach with installations and such. "quit working properly" doesn't give us much to go on. Start at the beginning from when you first launch BI in windows. That's about the only hope I've come up with to maybe get back to normal and have all 18 of my cameras working again as they did before the Windows Update.Īny other suggestions would be greatly appreciated! I've also tried installing Blue Iris 5, but it just copied all my Blue Iris 4 information which didn't help matters either.ĭoes anyone know where I can download the 64 bit file for BlueIrisService.exe. I've searched the Internet looking for a BlueIrisService.exe (64 bit) file, to no avail in hopes that would resolve my problems. I've also noticed that in my Task Manager it's showing I'm running BlueIrisService.exe (32 bit) as a Background process. I have noticed on my About Page in Blue Iris Options that it's now showing Release 4.8.6.3 圆4. My Support and Maintenance is Expired, so I don't know if there's a fix available. Still not working after about 3 weeks of trying in every spare moment I could come up with. I've gone through all the settings in the Blue Iris options and changed a lot of them in hopes of figuring it out. Windows had also deleted all my Restore Points, so I had nothing to try to help matters. Then two days later, I was sent the exact same update which was already installed when I discovered it. I uninstalled the Windows update, but that didn't help much. So many problems from that update! That's when Blue Iris basically quit working properly. About 3 weeks ago Windows 10 was updated which made my computer (apparently) a 64 bit version of Windows. You can contact the author at or on Twitter.
